This fall the wife and I are expecting our first kid. The house preparations are already underway, which leaves only the garage prep.

The CJ-7 is running reliably and my motorcycle SHOULD be back together in time. The last step is getting a new daily driver for me. I’ve always leaned towards wagons (had a 04 V70R as a fun car for a bit), which is making me think a used 2013 Audi allroad should be my purchase. Something like this

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I know it will baby, I know it will be better to drive than my current car (wife’s hand me down Corolla - she has a 2016 CX-5 now), but I’m looking to you OPPO - is it a good idea or a great idea?

It has an air suspension, right? Maybe check to see if you can get one CPO with a warranty of some kind. Otherwise, sounds like a good idea.

The wife; the only wife. There is only one wife, hence the article “the”

It will be the wife’s kid when it’s misbehaving.

My kid when it’s being exceptional.

Our kid at all other times.

Oppo’s kid when it’s being extra Jalop.

Is AWD a must have? Why not a TSX wagon.

If AWD has to be attained I vote Ecoboost Flex.

WRX, either the new sedan or a slightly older wagon. With The WRX Complex (trademark pending) you’ll pay essentially the same price for either.

I’m also a big fan of 3 and 5-series wagons. An E91 would be sweet.

Kids are bad roommates.

They don’t pay rent, eat all your food in the pantry and don’t pay at all for all the little things you will do to make their stay at Casa de MossInTheUSA enjoyable.

My vote is not for a 2013 VW Audi Allroad.

Instead, I vote THIS:

The Allroad is NOT capable of being a daily driver. A Mazda 5 would be a better choice.

Cool, I’ll be the weird uncle who says shit at family gatherings when he gets drunk.

My wife’s DD is a 2008 corolla and it does just fine for running around town with the munchkin and all of the stuff that goes with taking him out, even with a decent sized stroller taking up a good bit of the trunk. My JSW is the family road trip car and the one we use when all three of us go anywhere but that is primarily due to the Takata shrapnel dispenser on the front passenger side.

The corolla would do fine unless you are looking for an excuse to get a wagon, and if that is the case you have my blessing.

The desire to get a new car is purely emotional. I know the Corolla would function adequately, it’s just so damn boring. I’m not sure I can stomach driving it for much longer.

He or she will be a terrible roommate, that much I know.

I do like the TSX wagon and have been surprised by how many people recommend it. After driving an Accord for years and now my brief history with the Corolla, I just fear that it’ll be boring. Plus, only a 5 speed?!? Come on!

I’d love a Flex (so would my wife). Alas, they are too long to fit in our garage.

I hate driving hers as well, even with it being a 5 speed. But as a point A to B appliance its very good at its job.

If having fun is on the “need” list, get the All Road. Just have money for it when repairs are needed.

Get what you want and what doesn’t make you crazy now.
In a very short while, the only fun car you will be able to afford is pink and holds two Barbies.
I stand as witness. . .
